Le immagini del reportage de La Voce della Memoria testimoniano un piccolo, grande miracolo: la partecipazione viva e sentita di studenti e studentesse. Loro incarnano la "terza generazione", la più lontana cronologicamente dalla Shoah e dai sopravvissuti, e per questo la prima a rischiare l'abisso dell'indifferenza o una totale mancata appartenenza alla storia. Vedere un tale coinvolgimento dimostra quanto la memoria, pur nata da una smisurata tragedia, possa farsi portatrice di immensi atti di umanità e amore tra i giovani. Mettendo in circolo creatività e pensieri, hanno scelto di stare dalla parte del bene. L'empatia sbocciata nel costruire questa eredità è stata per me un dono inestimabile e per loro un patto puro con la democrazia.
Queste fotografie confermano la forza straordinaria di chi sceglie di non voltarsi mai dall'altra parte, camminando insieme lungo un sentiero di pace.
Author's Note
The images from the reportage of La Voce della Memoria bear witness to a small, great miracle: the lively and heartfelt participation of the students. They embody the "third generation," the furthest chronologically from the Shoah and its survivors, and therefore the first truly at risk of the abyss of indifference or a total lack of historical belonging. Seeing such involvement proves how memory, even when born from an immense tragedy, can bring forth profound acts of humanity and love among the youth. By pooling their creativity and thoughts, they chose to stand on the side of good. The empathy that blossomed in crafting this heritage together has been an inestimable gift to me, and for them, a pure pact with democracy.
These photographs confirm the extraordinary strength of those who choose never to look the other way, walking together along a path of peace.
